This past weekend I had the pleasure of sitting in the room with a group of people that are deeply commited to changing themselves, and as a result their community. We all had the opportunity to listen to one of the brightest minds and authentic people I know, Garrett Gunderson.
Garrett is the author of the New York Times best seller…Killing Sacred Cows, which is a “finance” book, now stop right there. Don’t think like I did, finance, oh that’s has to be boring…it’s night. Clearly insightly and massively ammusing.
But Garrett brought to us was this, amongst many other things..but this is the one that clearly resonated with me…Stop Using Time and Money as YOUR exuse, of course he did not use excuse but a more BLUNT word that caused many including me to open my eyes, and go YEP that’s it.
As I travel across the nation sharing with people, I hear the time one alot. As I shut my eyes Saturday night and “thot” it truly came to light for me, as something I share frequently, we all have the same amount of time in the day, 86,400 seconds, how do you use it.
It takes TIME to do nothing, instead of sitting and watching TV, pick up a book and read it, create some goals or vision for your life, spend some time planning your life…it takes dedication to waste time, it truly does…now NOT judging, because I do enjoy do nothing, sometimes more than I should…then I have regret. Regret that I wasted that moment and it will never come back…there is a saying, Pain is inevitable and Suffering is an option.
It is a pain to block off time to dedicate to growing you, TIME with your family, TIME doing something that you “want” to do, SIMPLE, change your dedication pattern and watch the results!! However it is clearly okay to do nothing at times too..to shut your brain off, vegging is quite okay, but create the time, the rhythm in your life to build what you choose to do, be proactive in your life, instead of reactive..meaning acting after it has happened.
The money excuse was big too, but the TIME one is something you can change right now…so JUST DO IT…want watch what you create.
Throwing down the challenge, take 30 minutes per day, reading, setting goals or creating your life…after one year you will have created a DEDICATE 7.6 extra days to your life CREATING YOU…IT’s AS SIMPLE AS THAT!!
