A Fresh New Start
Spring is a time of many new beginnings. The temperature begins to rise as our part of the earth tilts closer to the sun. The birds come back to their home for the summertime. Blossoms and green grass begin to grow from the Sun and April showers. It’s a time when an activity that has been dormant during the winter begins to flourish!
The same can be said for the humans who most often stay inside most of the winter and are typically less active than the rest of the year. For many of us, this means we begin to move more and partake in many outdoor activities that were impossible to do during the winter.
This increased activity on a body that has been somewhat dormant and inactive can cause wear and tear quickly if not done correctly. Our body must now adapt to new motions and stressors that it hasn’t had for several months. Going about this the correct way will limit long term damage and enhance the likelihood of positive results.
Our nerve system, including our brain and spinal cord, is what helps our body adapt to these new stressors and create new positive patterns. If there is any interference to our brain’s ability to coordinate this adaptability, problems will inevitably occur. This is why the #1 thing for everyone to do is get a check-up from their family’s Chiropractor anytime they begin to become more active. It greatly enhances the ability to function at your best and minimizes the chances of causing problems that can hamper your fun during the summer!
#GetChecked Today!!
It’s That Time of Year!
Time to get outside and meet your neighbors again. Time to send off those taxes (friendly reminder if you haven’t already). Time to finally plant those flowers you’ve been talking about for 4 years. Of course…Time to start spring cleaning!!
This is the time where we look around our home and realize winter was cold and hard. The garage needs to be swept from being filled with sand and mud. The Welcome mat needs to be shaken and the floors need a deep scrubbing to remove that layer of dirt and grime. You walk into each room and there’s always something that can be cleaned, vacuumed, washed, dusted or simply just thrown away.
This is also the time when we are motivated again to move and do more (since New Year’s resolutions always work out…). We take a look at our health and think that we can be better. We WANT to be better. We can go for walks in the warm sunshine, pick out the sweetest apples and oranges and sleep soundly with the windows open.
Those muscles that keep you briskly walking are controlled by your nerve system. That delicious smell of the freshest cut orange is transmitted by your nerve system. Even getting a good night sleep after all that renewed activity…you guessed it…regulated by your nerve system. How better to enjoy life than making sure your nerve system is functioning at it’s highest and optimal capacity!!
The ONLY way to keep your system clearly communicating is getting checked by your Chiropractor. Newborns to great-great-grandparents are welcome so everyone can live their best life!! Get checked. Get adjusted to help you adapt. Live better!!
A HUGE THANK YOU all for your continued support for the flood relief.
FEAR

What a powerful word this is. Sadly, for some odd reason, we live in fear. Think about it driving down the road you pass a Police Officer, you know you are going the speed limit, but the first thing you do is look down at your speedometer and make sure you are going the speed limit, then look in your rear view mirror to see if they are following you. WHY?
Great question!!
And if we live in fear in our lives, look at how that holds us back. I have a saying that I live by, Fear makes you weak, COURAGE MAKES YOU STRONG! Fear is always selfish, love is always unselfish. Fear will suffocate your success.
Commit today to take steps to act like success has been accomplished and you know that you cannot fail, and take that extra step. I know you can, and when you do imagine the possibilities that will come your way. And even better yet…those around you, your children, friends and whoever knows sees what you are doing and they are doing that little extra. Think of how you change your life, then, as a result, change the world.
Our theme at Koca Chiropractic is What Starts Here Changes the World, join our movement, let’s change the world. I know you can, and we want your help!!
Adaptability and The Immune System
If your immune system worked at 100%, would you ever get sick? Although our immune system may never work at that level, there are different ways to improve its capacity. There appears to be much controversy surrounding the immune system and the best way to support it, whether it is via vaccinations or natural immunity. The purpose of this post is to shed light on the immune system and how it works.
When we look at the paradigms of health, it really comes down to 2 trains of thought: the body is a machine waiting to break down and needs outside assistance to keep it working or it is a self-healing, self-regulating organism with the program to be healthy already written in its genes. The immune system is crucial for this.
The great thing about your immune system is that it learns from previous encounters with germs and viruses so that it is prepared for the next time it comes into contact with them; essentially practice makes perfect. Some great examples can be seen in such illnesses as Chicken Pox and Measles; once you get them as a child, you get lifelong immunity. With challenge comes growth, by challenging your immune system, it becomes stronger but what if you take away the opportunity for it to be challenged? In today’s day and age with over sterilization, antibiotics, and vaccinations, our immune systems are no longer allowed the opportunity to be challenged and therefore not getting better. You cannot get a change in your body if you do not go to the gym and you cannot get lasting healthy change if you do not give your immune system a chance to do its job.
Other factors do play a role in our immune system health like emotional stresses in our lives, not getting enough sleep, poor nutrition, etc. A crucial part to any healthy immune system is an optimally functioning nerve system to control and regulate its actions and thus helping the body adapt to the daily life stresses and sickness as fast as possible so you can gain more healthy time with the family.
At the end of the day, we are all responsible for making our own health care decisions. The purpose of this article is not to tell you what you should or should not have put in your body, only that there are options available to you. At the end of the day, I believe that we can all agree that we want our immune systems working at their best and the more we can do to help it in a way that builds it up, the better.
